Tennis Hall of Fame

April 4, 2026

Russell Fink, who helped found the Annapolis Area Tennis School in 2002, was inducted into the Anne Arundel County Hall of Fame in 2025.  Fink was the first CEO and president of AATS.  Russell was born in India in 1927 where his parents were missionaries.  He was raised in Pennsylvania, served as an army nurse in WWII, and became a Lutheran Minister.  Russell’s tennis story is remarkable because he didn’t pick up a racquet until his mid-50s.  At age 87, Russell was ranked number 3 in the country and number 22 in the world in the 85-and-older age group.  Russell Fink lived his motto, “Tennis for Life”, and the AATS mission is still “Tennis for All”.
